Our Story
Caprina® was founded in 2022 by John and Mary Smith, a husband and wife team passionate about goat milk soaps. After struggling with sensitive skin for years, Mary began experimenting with goat milk soap recipes in her kitchen. She found that the natural cream and vitamins in goat’s milk created a mild, hydrating soap perfect for even the most sensitive skin types.
After gifting her homemade soaps to friends and family, she was overwhelmed by the positive feedback and realized she was onto something special. With John’s business background, they decided to turn Mary’s homemade hobby into a full-fledged company dedicated to crafting healthy, wholesome soaps.
Why Goat Milk?
At Caprina®, we believe that goat’s milk is the secret to gentle, nourishing soap. Goat’s milk contains vitamins, minerals, and proteins that hydrate, soothe, and improve skin. It has a pH similar to human skin so it doesn’t strip or dry skin out like harsh soaps. The natural fatty acids help moisturize and the lactic acid exfoliates the top layer of dead skin cells. This leaves skin clean and smooth.
Goat’s milk also has anti-inflammatory properties that can help calm skin conditions like eczema, psoriasis, and acne. The soothing qualities of goat milk make our soaps perfect for those with sensitive skin or allergies.
We source our fresh goat’s milk from a local farm so it retains all its natural vitamins, minerals, and enzymes. This ensures you get the full skin-nourishing benefits in every bar.
Our Soapmaking Process
We handcraft small batches of soap on-site at our soapmaking studio. This gives us complete quality control over the whole soapmaking process.
We use the cold process soapmaking method, which allows us to retain the natural glycerin produced during saponification. This glycerin moisturizes and smooths the skin, giving our soaps their trademark milky, creamy lather.
Our plant-based oils like olive, coconut, and sustainable palm add rich nutrients that hydrate and replenish the skin’s natural moisture barrier. Soothing shea and cocoa butters provide additional moisture.
Pure essential oils give our soaps natural fragrance and provide aromatherapeutic benefits. We use therapeutic-grade essential oils to ensure maximum potency and quality.
From start to finish our soapmaking process takes 4-6 weeks. This extended cure time allows the soap to harden properly while the pH decreases to be in harmony with skin.

Goat Milk Soap Bars
Our signature product is our line of cold process goat milk soap bars. We offer a variety of shapes, scents, and formulas:
- Oval Bars: Our classic oval-shaped bars in 3oz and 5oz sizes.
- Round Bars: Handy 3oz rounds perfect for travel or sample sizes.
- Facial Bars: Smaller 1oz oval bars ideal for the face.
- Layered Bars: Artistic 5oz bars with two layers of color/scent.
- Exfoliating Bars: Bars with jojoba beads or oatmeal to gently exfoliate.
- Shampoo Bars: Bars that double as shampoo for hair and body.
- Sensitive Skin Bars: Unscented bars or bars with chamomile or lavender to soothe sensitive skin.
We use pure essential oils to give our bars light natural scents like lavender, eucalyptus, sweet orange, lemongrass, peppermint etc.
Liquid Hand Soap
Our liquid hand soap transforms our signature goat milk soap into a gentle cleanser for your hands. Available in 8oz and 16oz refillable bottles in a variety of essential oil scents. Gentle enough for frequent hand washing.
Goat Milk Lotion
We use the same nutrient-rich goat milk as our soaps to create intensely moisturizing lotions. Available unscented or with essential oils. Our thick, creamy lotion comes in 8oz tubs.
Goat Milk Body Wash
Our hydrating body wash uses a gentle surfactant blend to turn our goat milk soap into a lush lather that cleans without stripping the skin. Available scented and unscented in 8oz and 16oz bottles.
Goat Milk Bubble Bath
Indulge in a relaxing bubble bath with our hydrating goat milk bubble bath. Creates mountains of bubbles while gently cleansing and moisturizing the skin. Available in 8oz bottles.
Our Goat Milk Source
We source our fresh raw goat milk from a local, family-run goat farm called Green Goat Farm. Their goats are ethically raised on a certified humane farm where they freely roam and graze. This produces the highest quality milk brimming with nutrients.
The goats are never treated with hormones or antibiotics and their non-GMO feed is free of pesticides and herbicides. We have a longstanding partnership with Green Goat Farm and are proud to support sustainable local agriculture.
Our Ingredients & Standards
At Caprina® we are committed to using only the highest quality ingredients:
- Goat’s milk: Fresh, raw goat’s milk from Green Goat Farm. Unpasteurized to retain nutrients.
- Plant oils: Natural, unrefined oils like olive, coconut, sustainable palm, etc. No synthetic oils.
- Plant butters: Skin-nourishing butters like shea and cocoa butter.
- Lye: Food-grade lye to create true soap through saponification.
- Essential oils: Pure, undiluted, therapeutic-grade essential oils. No synthetic fragrances.
- Colored soaps: Colored with natural clays, herbs, and minerals. No artificial dyes.
We never use:
- Artificial colors
- Synthetic fragrances
- Preservatives
- Hormones
- Animal testing
- Animal products (vegan)
Our soaps are handcrafted in small batches in our FDA registered facility following Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP). We adhere to the most stringent standards of purity and quality.

We began handcrafting goat milk soap in our small studio in 2022. As demand grew, we moved operations to a larger production facility to keep up with orders.
We now have a vibrant team of dedicated staff helping handmake our soaps as we continue to grow. But our commitment to small batch processing and natural ingredients remains unchanged.
We introduced new products like lotion, body wash, and bubble bath while keeping our goat milk soap bars the core of our offerings.
We’re proud of how far we’ve come but our journey is far from over. We have big plans to expand our product line, reduce our environmental impact, and reach new customers.
We also have dreams of opening our own goat farm in the future for total control over our milk supply. We take pride in making progress towards our goals daily, no matter how small the steps.
